Welcome to the web page dedicated to Croatian Catholic Centres and Croatian Catholic priests in Australia.

Croatian Catholic missions have been created around the world as expression of a spiritual care of the Church for its emigrated members – the congregation. With the time, these centres will become not only the carriers of the spiritual life of emigrated Croats, but also the centres of cultural and social life. The role of Catholic missions and centres all over the world seems to be an especially important fact to Croatian people who are among the most exiled nations of the world.
The motives of leaving the Croatian home places in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina are different indeed. Those departures had not so much the character of natural migration movements but were predominantly characterised by the flight from economic, social and political misfortunes except for those scarce ones who had the character and spirit of restless explorers, like the KorĨula-man Marko Polo. Those were mainly silent departures without farewells and kisses of the dearest, without blessing and seeing off.
Nowadays, critical considerations about the role of Croatian Catholic missions offer us an idea on a great importance of these centres and many great men in the past and in present time for the preservation of a healthy spirit in their emigrated people. Various events: cultural, humanitarian, religious, etc., have permanently shown that we, as a Catholic people, possess a healthy democratic and cultural tradition; that, in spite of being a comparatively small people, we have given a big contribution to spirituality, culture and science of the mankind. Emigrated Croats in the missions all around the world, succeeded through their cultural activities, in cultural societies and communities, as well as by means of personal testifying of individuals, have been succeeding persistently to disprove unfavourable information in controlled-written encyclopaedias and regime propaganda unfavourable for Croats.

Church among Croatians!!!

The Church appears among Croats as a faithful follower of its people in the distant Australia inhabited also by the Croats who left their homelands of Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. There are, so, nowadays, 14 Catholic Centres and two nunneries at the territory of Australia. At this web page, you can find a lot about history, work and everyday events by clicking at a particular chosen centre.

Survey

Do you belive in Jesus resurrection?

Yes, absolutely
Yes, but not in the way the church preaches it happened
No, that's all nonsense
No, the thought hadn't crossed my mind
